Most industrial-scale ozone generators use oxygen gas. Pure oxygen generates ozone more efficiently and has a smaller footprint than air-fed generators. However, even with pure oxygen, the ozone generation process leaves a great deal of room for optimization. In ozone generation only a small percentage of the gas is actually converted into ozone; about 90% remains unused.
Messer collaborated with a leading ozone generator manufacturer at a drinking water treatment facility in the U.S. to test Messer’s new OXYCYCLE™ oxygen recovery system.
The patented OXYCYCLE solution:
- Captures unconverted oxygen and recycles it back to the ozone generator, or generators
- Reduces oxygen consumption by 60% or more
- Lowers operating costs and boosts ozone production efficiency to new levels
